For those looking to get outside and enjoy fun (and free!) activities this summer, The School Yard will be back on the University of Minnesota’s campus for their second year of building community involvement through games and events.
Located on the lawn directly outside the McNamara Alumni Center, The School Yard will feature its recognizable yellow cart of games every Monday through Friday until October, with games such as Cornhole and Giant Jenga available for anyone to use. The School Yard will also accompany the University of Minnesota Farmers Market on Wednesdays with a series of outdoor concerts by a variety of University musicians. And on Thursdays, fitness classes taught by our own University Recreation & Wellness Center will be held, including Yoga, Bootcamp, and Zumba. The School Yard also plans to host Student Group activities starting in August and Social Jam Sessions on Tuesdays throughout the summer season.
The School Yard is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF), University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA), and University Gateway Corporation. The site activations and programming is produced by The Musicant Group, a placemaking and events firm partnering in creating positive daily activity with the McNamara Alumni Center facilities and event staff.
