There a lot of reasons why you might want to livestream an event—like a dissertation defense with a out-of-town committee member or a lecture that has more than local interest. Whatever the reason, there is a simple way to [globally!] stream your event. Here are the steps via Facebook.
- Step 1 – Create a Page: If you don’t already have a Page a for your organization or group, take a few minutes to create one. The School of Kinesiology has a page so you can livestream school-related events. Just contact your web guru!
- Step 2 – Select App: Select the Facebook live stream application you would like to use. I’ve elected to use Livestream, but you can also use Ustream.
- Step 3 – Add to Page: Go to the app and select the Page(s) you want to stream events on.
- Step 4 – Broadcast: Find the broadcasting app you installed on your Page, and connect the app and your video recording device to your Livestream or Ustream account.
Voila! You are ready to livestream an event. I created a KIN livestream channel in about 15 minutes. You can check it out here (http://www.livestream.com/umnkinesiology). Stay tuned for our first livestreamed event this Spring!
